Disadvantages: bad taste, bad packaging, just... bad.
I'm not particularly into my vodka at the best of times (sampling the best of brands), so I didn't exactly hold high expectations for this particular class of Vodka - namely, the low class (...I'd call it working class but that would be an insult, also, I doubt anyone could work whilst drinking this stuff). It's high percentage (ABV), 37.5%, and it is therefore highly potent. You need about half a 70Cl bottle to get suitably wavy, and this is the same as any other Vodka, because they are all about the same percentage.
The taste of this particular brand of Vodka is poor. It isn't made with good ingredients using a good distilling process (like other brands), it is made from the cheapest ingredients using the simplest methods of production. When sipped neat the taste is hot and harsh - hard to describe - it's like other Vodka's (un-flavoured ones), but the bad deeply tangy / bitter / face-screwing part of the taste is increased considerably. When mixed the taste becomes more subtle and the sweetness of the mixer (for instance, Coca Cola or Lemonade) takes over most of the negative flavourings of the vodka (making it less negatively distinguishable from better brands).
I recommend Coke as the best mixer because it seems to hide the vodka taste best. it's all about minimising the taste of the vodka and maximising the influence of the mixer. Probably the worst thing you can say about a drink - but remember, what ever you do to disguise it, you still get the effect of the 37.5% ABV, the thing a lot of us are most interested in.
The drink is cheap, this makes up for a lot of things I have already said. It is between 20% and 50% cheaper than mid range - high range Vodka's. The packaging is minimalistic, bland and un-inventive. However, the new updated version of the packaging is much nicer than the one in the Dooyoo picture above. Tesco have ditched that primary colour based packaging for one more intricate and... nice.
All in all I'm extremely un-impressed with this type of Vodka. All you want to do is cover up it's strong, bitter taste with something sweeter, or fruitier. Hiding the taste becomes the main operation of the drink prior to drinking... This is a bad sign. I don't recommend this Vodka to anyone.
Thanks for reading.
