Roces Fifth Element (1999) (Agressive in general)
Member Name: antifascist
Advantages: Fast frames, good for alleyoop and topside tricks Disadvantages: hard insoles
The Fifth Element made by Roces is currently the best skate on the market. Features include a huge soul and negative area, comfortable liner, quality 59mm 89a wheels, ABEC 5 bearings and all around good looks. I bought these skates last Christmas and have lasted through eleven months of hard, intense skating. Only now have I even considered to buy replacement parts, I need new wheels, frames and h-blocks. The frame is fast and offers a lot of control, has a wide soul area, hence topside and alley oop tricks are a breeeze to lock on. Abec 5 bearings are smooth and allow you to either start out on vert or have a very comfortable roll on the street. The skates are not too heavy, about 5 pounds each but they are BOMBPROOF, I weigh 13 stone and these skates have taken a lot of abuse and have come out looking almost new. The Hyper King2 series wheels are smooth and are still snappy and feeling new even after all this time. Amazingly, the cores have not warped at all. The only disadvantage is that Roces do not put a good enough insole in the skate, when I first bought them my feet were in extreme pain, and so this problem was remedied by putting an extra-comfy k2 style points bob's liner with a squishy heel gel support for rough landings. The only improvement I could think of would be a Salomon like shock absorber for the heel. Summary: |
