Advantages: Fun, adrenaline pumper

Disadvantages: Prone to injuries

Aggressive inline skating is wicked. It is a must for anyone with a taste for extreme sports and adrenaline rushes.

It is simple to start off - you can get some aggressive skates from places for about £40 and that will get you started.
Though you won't be able to grind right away, the grinding plates will often be fat plastic beasts whereas you want thinner, metal strips. This will make grinding easier when you get better.
You will, at first, be on Abec-1 bearings which are slow. They are good for finding your feet however, so stick to them at first but then pop back to the shops and buy some abec-3 bearings, which will cost about £10 - £20.
Wheels are also another important aspect. You want small ones, about 57mm wheels and you don't want them too hard - 90a is about right for beginners. These measurements or specifications are on the wheel, so ask to have a look before purchasing.

They are your boots - but don't forget the pads. I havn't found that it hurts too badly when I fall, but I have seen bad accidents.
Wrist plates are definitely worth getting as the keep your wrist straight - the most likely outcome of falling over will be to land on ytour wrist which is therefore vunerable to breaks.
Knee pads and elbow pads aren't essential, but them and a helmet are definitely reccommended when you start some aggressive skating.

As you get the buzz for skating which I guarantee you will, unless you live in an area where there is a skatepark like I don't, build yourself a ramp. Not hard - flat piece of wood with a bit of fixed support. Excellent - this will at least get you off the ground and learning how to do your 180 and 360 degree spins. Grabs are also possible off small ramps, but don't go over the top as I saw someone land with their hands under their wheels. Many broken fingers, so don't do it.

After that you will be away. The miniramp that you will have constructed will have
given you confidence to better things and before long you doin Alley Oop 540's and 720 Mute Grabs.

Maybe not, but give it a try. You won't regret it!
