After seeing my Topman own brand shoes shredding up the more I put my feet in them, I decided to take the plunge and buy a pair of converse all star trainers. For years I'd seen students parading them around like handbags, with all the variety everyone had to have some. That was until last year, when all of a sudden overnight my fellow raggedy young guns put down their converse and put on their vans. You could quite easily lose count at the amount of people you see wearing converse just walking down the street. Going with the latest fashion, I decided to get a pair, don't know why, I didn't particularly like them at first, but £30 wasn't a bad price, and I was getting desperate for footwear. I went for the black, low-cut ones, as they looked the best without standing out too much; I had many different colours and designs to choose from in the store: black, blue, red, green... then strange patterned ones - I personally wouldn't want to be seen wearing some of these. If you've ever heard the brand name Converse, the first thing that comes to mind is usually Converse Allstars, even though Converse splatters their name on T-shirts, bags and the whole shebang these days. I’d always been a fan of high-top baseball boot style trainers, and when I seen a display of Converse Allstars in Schuh one day, I fell in love. Unfortunately, being a skint student I certainly didn’t want to fork out the £45 they were asking for them, so was forced to go on a hunt for a cheaper alternative.
