Advantages: excellent range of designs
Disadvantages: uncomfortable, can cause foot pain
Although they have recently taken another spin on the fashion carousel, converse have been in the shops for a long while now, and although us youths like to think we are being unique in our fashion choices, our dad's probably wore the same thing back in the day.
Whatever your taste there is a style of converse for you. They have plain colours, patterns, different cuts of shoe even. My personal favourite is the shorter ankle versions simply for ease of wearing, because the long ones soon get on your nerves with all the lace tying and untying.
Although converse definitely tick the style box, there is one thing that has to be said about them, and that is the comfort factor. There just isn't one! Your feet are held dead flat all day long and there is no support. As a result of wearing shoes like this and other brands that have no support for the foot, my arches are falling and I can tell you it's painful. So if you want to wear these lovelies, I suggest alternating them with another pair that does offer good support.
I also find that the price of converse is very suitable for what you get. They are a basic shoe and so anymore than £35 would be a bit too much for me, but I think that depending on the style it's worth this price and if you buy in certain stores and you are a student, you can often get 10% off such as Schuh.
The bottom line is, these look great with a variety of outfits, but don't wear them all the time.
Summary: looks great, doesn't feel so great

- 09/01/09 They're very versatile, it must be said - you can pretty much wear them with anything. |
