Advantages: They look like amazing!

Disadvantages: Expensive and conforming..

As a niave girl I was jealous when I began to see converse everywhere and I didn't have a pair, all self respecting 'Emos' should surely own a pair? Now I'm totally against this stereotype of course, but I still love my converse. Yet, as I bought my first pair about two years ago I couldn't help wonder if £35 was a bit excessive for a pair of sneakers? I have a few perfectly fine pairs from New Look for just £10, I refer to them as 'fake converse' but I still like them just as much!

It can't really be seen as a statement to wear converse anymore because everyone has them, especially the black pair I pride myself on wearing almost everyday (unfortunately can't get away with them at school except for during PE which i count as another chance to flaunt my shoes). They're dirty, have holes in them and slightly falling apart so normally a person would throw them away but it seems that the older and more grotty the converse the cooler they are because it means you've had them longer.

"You have converse?! No way! Me too! We're cool..."

I have always been against fashion (as you would know by seeing pictures of me in my younger days) but I still have my own sort of style and try to look almost presentable when I'm forced to leave my bedroom, but wearing converse is definitely following a fashion. They're the ultimate accessory in my opinion (and basically the only type of shoe I own) so maybe by wearing them I am contradicting myself?

So would I be crazy enough to pay £20 for a pair of mini converse that my baby (hypothetical baby of course!) would grow out of in a bout 2 months? Unfortunately yes. I can insist I'm against conforming all I want but I still love the feeling I get when I wear my converse, hoping others as shameful as me, see mine and are impressed? (Of course I also judge people on their hair because I'm shallow like this but I don't mind admitting it :) )

People can insist that converse are over rated and if everyone is doing it there's something shameful about dong it too but then again all the best things are over rated and everyone I know likes to breathe and I don't plan on stopping that just because I want to be 'unique'.

I must be going now so I can start saving up for that purple pair of converse I have my eyes on ;)

Summary: It's ok to conform every now and again (if you can afford it)

Oh, if I ever go to America I reckon I'll spend all my money in converse then! :)

Thanks a lot :) x

I used to wear my pink converses for PE too! Expensive shoe but love them!
I went to New York and paid just £17 for pop art style converses! Over here the same converse cost around £50.
Great review! x
