Advantages: Classic styling, good price, widely available

Disadvantages: None

I started wearing Converse stuff at about the age of mid teens, in particular Converse All Stars and Chuck Taylors.

They are a American born retailer of trainers, bags and rucksacks and selected sportswear eg hoodies.

History of Converse=
Marquis Mills Converse started the Converse Rubber Shoe Company (also known as the Boston Rubber Shoe Company) in 1908, and the factory was located in Massachusetts. The company was a rubber shoe manufacturer, surprisingly enough providing rubber soled footwear. In 1915 that the company began manufacturing athletic shoes for tennis. Converse All-Star basketball shoe was introduced in 1917, and 1921, a basketball player named Charles "Chuck" Taylor walked into the Converse premises complaining of sore feet. Converse gave him a job. In 1923 his signature was added to the now famous Converse Chuck Taylor trainer which are a world recognised shoe and widely worn by men women and children!!

Converse shoes are an institution and I will review the popular Chuck Taylor boot as I imagine this is the most popular item which is synonymous with the Converse brand.

Packaging=
The trainers are supplied in brown boxes with flip lids and trainers are in tissue, a keyring is often supplied within the box.

Appearance=
There is a high top and low top boot, the low top is cut just below the ankle and the high top is an ankle boot.

They are available in many different colour combinations, I have had black, red, blue, flames, stars and countless other funky pairs of high tops.

The laces are mostly white in these shoes and can either be criss crossed or straight across depending how you do them up!!

There is a logo on the heel of the rubber sole facing out, a patch on the outer side of each shoe with the famous all star logo and a logo on the tongue of the shoe.

Materials=
The shoe in main is made out of thinnish canvas with a rubber sole and toe piece. Metal eyelets hold the laces in place.

Wearability=
Never need wearing in and I find are true to size. Extremely comfortable for maybe half a days wear, I tend to find my feet ache a bit due to the not particularly think or springy sole, they feel like a typical flat shoe with no real give to the sole. Laces never come undone and can be tucked away if you want to take them off show.

Unfortunately the lifespan of these shoes will be about 8 months with regular use, I get mine absolutely battered and they are still wearable in summer but if they are damaged forget wearing them in the rain as your feet will suffer for it.

I loved my beaten up old shoes, the red ones I wore almost everyday with the sole almost hanging off mainly because I could not bear to part with them!!

They can be found from between £20 and £30, from most major shoe retailers and a thoroughly recommended purchase, albeit best worn in drier weather.

Yes there are so many options its unreal. Excellent 4 years, I'm surprised they are still going. Well done here's to another 4 years (perhaps).

Instead of what type of shoe to buy, it's more of a question of what colour.

I've had my little pair for 4 years now, they're the only shoes of it's kind that fit my feet properly. I have very wide feet and usually struggle to get my feet into converse, but these knock offs are perfect. The white bit is now a grey colour, the sides have holes in them, so I'm screwed if it starts raining but I love them still. Brilliant review. Kirsty x
