Advantages: Good durablity, long life time, and some funky designs
Disadvantages: Can get a bit sweaty, especially in the summer.
In last few years I've gone through a sort of evolution in footwear. First I started out with Converse, then Vans, before finally stopping on DC trainers. Although the other two brands suited me just fine, I think DC's are certainly my shoe of choice.
DC's, typically known as a 'skater' shoe, strike me as one of the most comfortable and long-lasting brands of trainer. For example, I've had one pair for nearly three years and except for looking a little stylishly battered they are still in fine working condition. No leaks, no splits, no nothing. To be honest the only thing I've ever had to replace on them was the laces. Considering the pounding I give them, they have lasted extremely well. Unfortunately mine are white, which is not the most forgiving of colours, so they can get incredibly dirty, but a little water and tissue paper will sort that out in no time.
DC's are also incredibly comfortable, the inside being coated with a thick layer of padding that somehow manages to grip your foot securely without being uncomfortably tight. The sole has an incredible grip, which is especially useful for me being located in the Welsh valley's, where ice and rain is pretty much our daily forecast.
DC's come in a range of styles and colours, some of which have some pretty funky designs on them. Mine have a black and white radio and skull motif on them, but I've seen other much more outlandish designs. Of course, with the average price tag of £59.99, at least in my area, they are not particularly cheap, but considering the mileage you get out of them they are well worth the investment. I'll have to get another pair sometime...
Summary: One of the best brands I have ever bought from
