Advantages: Comfy, Look good (in my humble opinion!)
Disadvantages: None really
Shoes, trainers, sneekers whatever you call them. Everyone needs a pair, and considering your feet are used more often than not there’s no reason why you shouldn’t adorn them with some nifty bits of kit to keep them from aching, hurting, etc. Everyone is different as to what is best for their feet but personally I find skate shoes are by far the most comfortable. Don’t get me wrong though, I don’t actually skate! ------------ DC Shoes ------------ To most people who haven’t dabbled in extreme sports DC Shoes are unheard of. For those of you who have however will know that they are a big company. So for the sake of those who haven’t come across these shoes before, DC Shoe Co are an American company who primarily produce skate style shoes. However they produce various bits of apparel and even ski/snow gear. They sponsor various athletes, many of which are big names in the extreme sport world. ----------- The shoe ----------- This particular model is called the Analog. It is mainly made from suede with rubbery toe tips and sides primarily for extra control when skating but it is dead handy when you get scuff marks on them. All you need to do is get a damp cloth and wipe it off, simple. As with all shoes, comfort is a must. Anyone who buys trainers, shoes etc. just for the look is a fool. When I first got these I was kinda worried they wouldn’t be as comfy and my trusty Airwalks but after a prolonged wearing in period I can say they live up to skate shoes reputation of being excellent for walking/skating miles in. A good feature about these shoes is that the ankle support is quite taught, again this is for skating purposes but is also advantageous for everyday use. When on a trip to Chester, in typical British fashion it decided to pour down, and by pour I mean mini monsoon. There’s me and my nice new trainers – with suede might I a
dd. As a nice surprise it didn’t effect it one bit, and as a bonus it kept my feet bone dry which you don’t often find in many shoes when it rains hard. One thing I must warn people about, I wear jeans quite a bit and only after a few wears I found that the lighter colours were picking up bits of blue from the said jeans. Its a minor niggle because my trousers cover it up anyway but could be an important one depending on what you’d normally wear. ---------------------------------- How much? And where from? ---------------------------------- Most sport shops nowadays are starting to sell skate shoes but usually its a limited range. Dedicated skate/surf shops are bound to have a pair of DC shoes but I got mine from the ever reliable Extremepie website, www.extremepie.com If you are sure of your shoe size its worth going on the net to be free of hassle and maybe a discount. This particular pair cost me £60 -------- Rating -------- Looks 5/5 (but then that is just my opinion of course!) Durability 4/5 (only reason it didn’t get 5 was the jean issue) Comfortability 4/5 (will probably get better with time)

- 16/12/02 Thanks for the comments and ratings. We must be made being into horses mustn't we aefra! Oh well, if I had my own horse I'd also not spend £60 on a pair of shoes either (in fact I very rarely do anyway). |

- 16/12/02 A great op. I don't spend £60 on shoes as my horse needs a £40 set of new ones every 5 weeks. :( |
