My Experience
This is a superb jacket for those cold wet Scottish days when you are out paddling, being lashed with rain and spray from waves, or if you are paddling amongst Ice Bergs in some Northerly country.
This is a quality jacket, comparable to your top quality Gore Tex jacket rather than a lightweight stowaway waterproof. It has been made with performance in mind and it features just the necessities.
I like the stowaway hood so when I don't need it I don't have to put up with it flapping around. It easily folds back into the collar. Even though it's a slightly thinner hood than many jackets it still does a great job of keeping the wind and rain out and is fully adjustable.
It has a pocket on the sleeve, which is useful, but I still don't quite get the usefulness of the front pocket. I tend to put my gloves in here only to find that once I've put my buoyancy aid on I can't get them out!!
The scary part is cutting the latex wrists to get just the right fit on your wrists. Get it wrong and you no longer have a tight seal and you'll get water up your arms!!
The one thing I really don't like is that the Velcro on the inner neck often catches my chin and I end up rubbing a really sore patch on my skin.
The sizing is a bit on the small size so I would definitely try one on before buying. They seem to be made for tall, skinny men with long arms!!
It's a really hardwearing jacket and if looked after will last you a long time. Which is just as well as at around £220 it's not cheap!!
Summary: For those really cold wet days on the sea this is the jacket for me.
