Vastly over priced Vans (Vans)

Why are Vans so expensive in the UK . I'd seen a gorgeous pair of ladies Vans ( chaos is what they were called just incase you were wondering !!!! ) in a boarders shop in Cheltenham . I was off to France on a skiing holiday so I thought I better not buy them as otherwise i'd have no spending money for my hols . That was the best move I ever made , i came off from the slopes mid-afternoon as the snow was getting getting slushy . I decided to do a spot of shopping in the Ski resort which was unfortunately very expensive . I wandered into a snowboarding shop to look at the clothes they had when I spotted the shoes . WOW I couldn't believe it the same Vans for the equivalent 30 pounds - bargin , and the choice was some much better especially for ladies Vans !!! That was a year and a half ago and they still look good , even though they've been in the washing machine a few times after muddy biking expeditions.
Why are they so expensive in the UK and why is there such a limited choice , come on UK retailers sort it out !!!!
