I started cycling in London about 5 years ago but haven't invested in cycling gears at the beginning. First I bought cycling shorts, than helmet, than shoes and finally about 3 years ago a good quality waterproof and windproof Altura Hi visible jacket (since than I got lots of other cycling gear essentials!). I commute by bike and cycle about 10 miles a day. In London it is very important that you are visible as drivers are not careful. I also do lots of babysittings in the evenings so the bright yellow colour is essential during the night. The Altura Ladies Nevis Jacket is very popular, and very comfortable. It is an ideal entry level cyclet jacket to keep you warm and dry, it is breathable.

The pit and back vents will keep you cool and comfortable at all times whilst the waterproof zip with storm flap provides protection. This jacket is easily stored as it folds up into its own back pocket for convenience. The reflective trim is sure to get you noticed in low light conditions allowing you to enjoy your ride with peace of mind.
I absolutely love my altura jacket, mine is bright yellow so extremely visible for everyone, I use it from end of September till about March, when I change it into a high visibility Karrimor vest. I bought mine on Wiggle for £50 but nowadays you can get it for £44.99 on the same website. I am a size 10 and their sizing is spot on.
