Advantages: lightweight and good at protecting my trousers and keeping them dry

Disadvantages: None as far as I am concerned

With the absolutely horrible summer we are having a pair of over trousers are a real must for anybody who is considering on doing some walking or hiking at the minute. I only recently bought some as I had not originally planned on getting some until winter but due to the constant rain I decided it would be prudent to invest in a pair a little earlier than originally planned.

I bought myself a pair of Berghaus Deluge trousers because as far as I am concerned Berghaus is the crème de la crème of outdoor walking clothing.
I got them from an outdoor clothing store and they cost me £40 which I consider money well spent. A bit of rain doesn't bother me in the least but there is nothing worse than getting soaking wet and having to walk about in wet clothes for hours on end.

The trousers are basically a pair of waterproof trousers that you put over your regular trousers to keep them dry and out of the rain. They are made from a really lightweight fabric which does an excellent job of repelling water and keeping my trousers or shorts really dry underneath them. The fabric is so waterproof that when they are on not a drop of water gets through them.
Although they keep my trousers dry and stop any water from getting through they also allow my trousers to breathe and allow air to circulate stopping me from getting sweaty and too hto which was a concern for me originally when buying them.

I'm sure that the science behind these trousers is very impressive but for me it is all about how practical they are and for that they score 10 out of 10. They are a fantastic fit and go over my trousers with ease but when they are on they aren't too big and baggy and don't look like clown trousers.
They have zips down the sides and an elasticated waist which makes them quick and easy to fit on and I can have them out of my pack and over my trousers in a matter of seconds which when the rain comes on suddenly is important to ensure that I get as little rain on me as possible.

They are also incredibly light and because they can be rolled up so small they take up minimal room in my pack meaning that I would be hard pressed to notice they were there and it doesn't feel like too much of an inconvenience to take them on and off several times if I so wished.
They can just be washed in the washing machine so are easy to look after and keep them in good condition.

For anyone considering taking up walking these are a must especially with our unpredictable weather. You can easily wear these in the morning when it is pouring with rain and whip them off in the afternoon to get some sun on your legs when the sun comes out to play.
They are very high tech but that doesn't matter to me all I am concerned with is that they actually work and do what they are supposed to do quickly and easily.

Summary: A must for our dismal weather.
