      You pay for quality

Most of the outdoors jackets I own come from the brands Berghaus and Bergans, and this Berghaus Trango Jacket was purchased some time ago, and I have been very pleased with how comfortable it has kept me under very intense weather conditions, as I do enjoy to get right in there, alongside heavy snowfall and "Twister" resembling wind...

This is a jacket that is used by those really wanting to protect themselves from wind and rain, this is a jacket for those willing to spend quite an insane ammount of money on one garment of clothing! I would never have chosen to buy this jacket had it not been for my passion towards long and rough hikes in the mountains, on glaciers or wherever there`s beautiful nature to be seen, and this is not a jacket I use for a stroll in the park, to put it that way... The one thing that I would complain about slightly, is the fact that I would have liked the jacket to be just a couple of centimeters longer, as I find it to be somewhat too short, not a big problem, but something I have taken notice in... Apart from that, this is a superb jacket, from its capacity to shut out rain and wind, to it breathing very well and fitting comfortable and well on my body, as it can be adjusted on both waist, arms and back. I have no question that this is an entirely water proof jacket, and it keeps out wind with ease as well. It`s very comfortable to wear and easy to transport, so all in all, this is a jacket I would recommend to those enjoying nature at its most extreme, as this jacket isn`t something I would purchase for just an afternoon in the park...

A superb quality jacket from a trust worthy brand!

Ok, so it may not be the least expensive jacket out there, and it cretainly isn't the kind of jacket you'd want to buy to keep you dry when walking to the shops. In fact, if you get one of these its more likely that you will be planning an expdition to somewhere very, very wet. The Berghaus Trango Jacket (if you can get hold of one as they are- I believe- gradually being phased out) is a fantastic breathable and waterproof jacket. It is well designed, using an interesting innovation to allow one handed closing of toggles and drawcords, well cut to allow freedom of movement whilst retaining its breathability, and the large map pockets are situated for easy access even when wearing a rucsac. Another handy feature is the re-enforced elbow pads that are impregnated with reflective material- prevents excessive wear and tear on the elbow and stops you getting run over by a random car on a country road at night. If there is one problem with the jacket it is the fact that it does not come far enough down the body and you get a wet butt, but this can be rectified by the addition of water proof trousers (which I have not been sensible enough to do yet- so I can't review them yet...) However, a truely great coat from a big name in the business, if you want the best, its there for a price....
