“ Manufacturer: Miss Fiori / Type: Ladies Vest „
I bought two of these vest tops from Sports Direct a few weeks ago as they were on offer at two for £5 (or £2.99 each) which I thought was a good bargain. The full price is £6.99 each. I always used to stock up on most of my basic vest tops from H&M but at the moment I am living in a town with no H&M store so I am having to branch out a bit and try other makes of vest for a change.
These Miss Fiori vests are a bit different to my usual style as the straps are fairly wide, as you can see on the picture. They are 100% cotton and do not have any stretch to them compared to my usual H&M vests which are 95% cotton, 5% elastane. Most other vest tops I have, such as the ones from Primark, also have a bit of elastane and a slight stretch to them. These vest tops are thicker than the average and feel quite warm compared to most vests. The cotton is quite chunky and has a thin rib going through it.
As the material is quite thick and warm I don't think they are the best suited for wearing during exercise. I have been using them more just as a casual vest to wear with jeans or shorts.
The design is quite simple but I noticed these vests on the racks due to the stripe of colour which they have around the neck and the arm holes. The vests I bought are navy with bright aquamarine blue stripes, and black with neon yellow stripes. They also had other colours such as black with pink, grey with blue and various other combinations. When you wear the vests, these colour stripes are actually barely visible because they are on the inside of the vest. You can occasionally see a glimpse of the colour inside the arm holes, but the bit by the neck is completely covered, so this design aspect is a bit wasted or unnecessary as they just look plain, but never mind!
The first time I wore one of these vests I felt it fitted quite nicely and looked good, but after having washed it it went slightly misshapen and loose, which is a shame. I would not really expect this to happen after the first wash! The label states they should be washed at 30 degrees, and this is the temperature I usually use. However I don't really see a reason why they couldn't be washed at 40 degrees, as most people seem to wash at 40.
On the whole, at the reduced price I think they are alright but I do prefer vests with a little bit of stretch to them and these ones are slightly thicker than I usually like. The main disappointment is the fact they have slightly lost the fitted shape, but it is not bad enough to mean I can't wear them anymore. I only wear them casually anyway, mainly at home, as they are hardly a top for going out or dressing up!
