      Very helpful

      Good looking, poor quality fleece.

This review is based on comments I made on www.petesy.co.uk.

The Montane Oryx is a tight fitting and thin 100 weight fleece jacket made with Polartec Powerdry fabric (soft and very quick drying) on the chest, back and top of the arms. Under the arms and on the sides of the torso is a multi layer mesh that is thinner to allow more breathability (airflow) however it is possible to feel the wind through it if not wearing another layer on top. The jacket is slim cut, and very short in the body with good sleeve length and shoulder/elbow articulation. A nice design touch is loops on the collar are to hold mp3 earphones when not in your ears and a stitched hole on the inside of the Napoleon pocket to allow the headphone cable through.

I had one for three weeks and had to take it back for a number of reasons. The stitching on both cuffs started to come out, it bobbled all over but particularly on the mesh side panels and underarm and most annoyingly one of the bobbles on the forearm mesh caught on something and resulted in the surrounding mesh beginning to unravel. When I took it back The guy in Cotswold didn't even question me about it as he said they'd had quite a few returned with the same issues.

I never got as far as wearing a pack with mine, it was just general use, pub and (office) work, I thought if it couldn't handle that there's no way I'd want to use it in anger.

If you see one very cheap it's probably worth buying as long as you're extremely careful it's a very stylish and fitted jacket, but any sort of abrasion will result in bobbles or snatching.

Montane Oryx Full Zip Jacket. Using Polartec Power Dry, the Oryx Jacket has the twin performance properties of being both very high wicking for active use in the spring and summer; and also highly thermally efficient making it an excellent heavyweight base-layer for the colder autumn and winter months. Utilising DryActiv Express fabric for extra high wicking stretch performance under the arms, the Oryx is hugely comfortable for all day use.
