I should point out that these were purchased via Amazon for the princely sum of £2.99 purely for use as part of a fancy dress costume on an 80s theme. There are a couple of reasons why I personally would not use these in a real exercise scenario (and in any event I actually do own some proper Lonsdale sweat bands which are far less garish!).
What you get in this set is two wrist bands and a matching head band. I am not certain that these are actually even designed for use during exercise as the material is quite bitty and does not seem overly absorbant, they seem to be made of a polyester and cotton mix and I found that little bobbly bits of material rubbed off if you wore them for any length of time.
Also the headband in particular seemed quite large on me - I do have a small head but it did not feel particularly tight, I guess this is a good thing if you have a big head but again I would not trust it to stay entirely in place or hold my hair back effectively if I was using this during exercise. The wristbands seemed to be a fairly standard size and both the wrist and head bands had a lot of give in them. The headband is quite thick, measuring nearly 3 inches across and for me this also felt too big to be anything other than a novelty item.
Personally I find the colour far too bright and garish to be something I would use normally but they are just the ticket for anything retro/80s and for the price you can't really complain. I bought them intending them to be of use purely for a novelty aspect and to be honest, based on the quality of the material I do not think they would make particularly effective sweat bands and nor are they designed to be. Great for cheap and cheerful use as part of a fancy dress outfit but not really ideal for working out in!
Having been going to the gym a lot lately I have been buying a few luxuries and added extras to make my workouts more enjoyable. I bought this Neon Pink Retro 80's Head and Wrist Sweatband set on a bit of a whim for making life a little easier during my workouts.
Sweatbands are worn by sports people to aid in absorbing sweat produced during physical exertion. Obviously different people sweat different amounts but any kind of tough exercise will make you perspire and this can be both off putting and uncomfortable during your workout.
I found this sweatband set on Amazon, I was looking for something cheap and cheerful to wear down at the gym and found these! The set consists of two wrist sweatbands and one headband. They are a bright neon pink colour that you certainly cannot miss in a room. The sweatbands are made of terrycloth.
This is a towel like fabric that can absorb relatively large amounts of liquid perfect for sweatbands.
Do not let the colour fool you! This sweatband set is unisex as they are made of an elasticated material that can be stretched over your body parts. The headpiece has an 11 inch circumference that will stretch to fit any adult head and the two wrist bands a 2 inch circumference.
Comfort & Wear
Comfort wise these are extremely easy and snug to wear. The slide onto and over my wrists easily and more importantly stay in place during my workouts. I tend to wear just the one sweatband on my wrist to mop up my forehead during a run and also so I have one clean one to hand if I need it.
The headband again is very comfortable and not only keeps the sweat off my face but also acts as a headband to keep my hair out of my eyes. I hate it when I am trying to concentrate on running in a straight line and not passing out and am having to mess about wiping my hair off of my face.
The elasticity in the sweatbands mean that they stay in place during physical exercise, which is what they are meant to do. I have noticed that they are not as tight as they were when I first bought and wore them, but that is only what I expected for the price and they still stay in place whist I work out. They are also very good at soaking up sweat and are much easier to use than having to mess around with a towel.
Overall I am pretty happy with this sweatband set, they do what they are supposed to and very good value for money at £2,99 delivered from Amazon. Also good for dressing up from the 80's!
