I've recently taken up playing netball again. I played all throughout school and then again for a team in my twenties but then I took a break whilst I had my kids. I was itching to get back into it as I really enjoy it plus its a really good work out and much more fun than going to the gym so I joined a team in my local village. I've been playing for a while now and am happy to report that I still have the touch, I'm a GA for anyone who knows netball and still having the shooting gift.
What I didn't have when I started was some workout clothes that fit. Back in the good old days when I had a stomach to be proud of I wore little crop tops and low slung tight workout trousers but these days after two kids I need to cover up my tummy, arms, well basically everything in fact. This jacket is perfect coverage and also great for the cold, rainy nights that I play netball.
I wanted to look the part when I played so Nike was my first choice. I have always liked their sports wear in terms of comfort, how they fit and feel when you work out and also the design and designer label of Nike. This jacket is black and is quite fitted at the sides although it doesn't feel tight in any way. It has long sleeves so keeps you warm but I also like the fact that it lets you breathe as well because although it may be cold outside once you have warmed up and played netball for an hour or so you are really hot and sweaty so you need something to keep you warm but not too bulky and heavy that you will overheat whilst playing. The jacket has covered mesh vents on the side which work really well at keeping you dry but also letting the air circulate around your body so keeping you at the perfect temperature for exercise. The material of the jacket is polyester so its very comfortable but it also has Dri-Fit as well which is indicated as it is written on the side of the jacket. Nike Dri-Fit is a high performance, microfibre, polyester fabric which has the properties and build quality to wick sweat away from your body and move it to the surface of the fabric, where it evaporates; as a result, Dri-FIT fabric helps you stay dry and comfortable. I always feel really good wearing this jacket and I never get over sweaty as I would in just a sweatshirt top or something like that. The jacket sits a little below my waist and is a little bit longer at the back which I think is to keep the rain running off you and running down your back.
The jacket zips all the way from top to bottom so you can have it open if you wish but I like to have it zipped most of the way when I am playing so it doesn't flap around and get in the way. The zip goes all the way up to your collar which is in a cone shape standing up so you can zip it up quite high which is nice. What I also like is that this jacket has concealed pockets which lay flat against your sides. iF you don't have anything in them you will hardly notice that they are there but I like to use mine for my asthma inhaler (yes, very top athlete of me!!) and I keep my keys in them on the way to and from netball.
The jacket also has reflective elements that give you 360-degree visibility in low-light conditions which is good as we play from 7:30 to 9pm so by the end the light is quite dim so its nice to have a bit of reflection on my jacket. The jacket wasn't cheap, it cost me £55 but its very good quality, a nice design and one that will last me quite a few years to come.
