I play football locally and use the Nike Total 90 Protega shin pads. They are priced at between £5 and £7.99 and are widely available. The ventilated shell of the shin pads allows a cool air flow through them and also allows for better perspiration generally. Behind the silver fronts of the pads are the foam protectors and they are both very comfortable and hard wearing. I have worn a lot of shin pads where they just attach with two simple velcro straps but the support at the bottom of the product allows you to properly wear them and makes sure they dont slide up the leg when on the pitch. Although the pads are very well designed and look great their purpose is obviously to ultimately protect the shins from hard tackles and prevent injury to that area. They offer very good support and feel well made.

Unlike a lot of shin pads, these have specific left and right pads which are designed to fit better as they are contoured for a better fit. this not just ensures they are more comfortable to wear, but also more effective at protection. The ankle guards protect the area of foot between the shin pad and the boot as all the lower leg is prone to a lot of abuse - especially in local derbys! For the price I would definately advise you consider these. i would also say that if you dont like the design of these pads then you would be wise to ensure you wear some shin pads. They are always a very popular choice with parents for their kids at school and Nike are a well known popular brand.
