Advantages: Nice secure fit
Disadvantages: Not cheap at full price
This week does not exactly look like great cycling weather, certainly not on the road and I would not fancy an off road experience if the ground hardens up and so these gloves will not be required. A recent purchase online they were heavily discounted down to £15 which was over half their normal retail price. If I'm going for a decent ride then I like to wear gloves to give me extra grip and also to protect my hands from chafing.
Shimano as a brand are most well known for their gears however they have a wide range of clothing products as well and the quality is always good. These gloves are of the cut out variety so your fingers are exposed, for me this does not make them ideal for really cold weather but for the majority of the year these serve me fine as I like to have the touch of open fingers particularly on the brakes.
Made from polyester they have a polyurethane mambrane mine are mostly black in colour with a bright pink trim to them which makes them rather girly in terms of colour however they also feature a reflective strip to them which helps with visibility at night, naturally they are not sufficient on their own but the more visible you are the better in my opinion. They are available in an all balck option as well.
What I love about these is how comfortable they are, the padding on the palm of the hand is very good without being too thick and the wrist strap ensures they are a tight, comfortable fit that does not slip even when I'm really strainng on the bars on a steep climb. This means that there is no rubbing. The material between the fingers has a nice amount of stretch to make these very flexible and there are no seams that rub either with good quality stitching.
So far after a few weeks use these seem pretty robust and well made, they are certainly nice and comfortable with excellent grip on the inside of the glove. Given the great price my only regret is that I did not buy a second pair as back up when I made the original order.
Summary: Nice cycling glove
