Advantages: Works well, Cheap, Different sizes, Stretches without breaking

Disadvantages: Can hurt to get on if you don't wet hair and cap, Can squeeze your head and lead to headache

Having always been a bit of a swimmer, I have owned a swimming cap for a while now. I have always had a silicone Speedo version. All my swimming gear has actually been from Speedo as I think they are pretty well-known and reliable. It's not always that I actually need to use my swimming cap, so I don't use it all the time.

However in public pools, you are often required to wear one. This is to help reduce the hair in the pool although out of everything I see in pools, the minority seems to be hair ever! If you have longer hair though, the hat helps you to be more streamlined as you can tuck your hair up into the hat.

The hat can be quite tricky to get on so it's always best to wet it first under a shower or in the pool water. Rinsing it out with water usually makes it easier to get on. It also has a certain direction although it may not be obvious - the Speedo logo should be read on each side.

I place the front side of the hat on my forehead and then stretch it back to pull it over the back of my head trying my best not to get any air locks! It fits quite tightly and this is why you can buy small and large ones. It is quite stretchy without breaking so although it may hurt, it's not too hard to get on your head. If it's wet too and your hair is wet in the shower, it doesn't pull your hair but it might otherwise.

You can buy one of these for a couple of pounds. They are quite plain swimming caps and pretty standard but they have always worked fine for me. I'd recommend buying one but make sure it's definitely your size first! The caps help to keep water going into the hat once they are on, and therefore help prevent hair going in the pool efficiently.

Thanks for reading!
