Advantages: Hugely comfortable, very durable, classic look

Disadvantages: Hefty price tag will put some off, virtually no use in winter

When I first started playing mens' football in this country I sat down in the dressing room, lacing up my Adidas Copa Mundials as an older player next to me smiled and said: "Like slippers with studs."

That is an accurate a description as I have ever heard of this timeless classic of a football boot. My first pair lasted three seasons of weekly use and the quality of the leather is so high that there is no reason a similar lifetime can be expected of every pair, provided they are looked after well.

I would stress, though, that the Copa Mundial version is the one with moulded studs and you will not last five minutes attempting to play in these on the average 'English winter' pitch, unless it is one which is frozen solid!

You will, however, be able to get plenty of use out of them on firm pitches, ones which are of a good standard (even when quite wet), and even some modern types of astroturf.

Summary: You will never wear anything else once you have worn these boots
