The new Adidas Predator are quite simply brilliant!

Having owned the previous Predator Boots which I thought were outstanding, the new 'model' eclipses all that have went before them!

In short, the Predator Boots increase your performance on the pitch, which is where it matters, and as an added bonus, they also make you look the part!

For those of you who are not familiar with the Predator brand, here's what makes them tick....

The Sole

The sole of the boot consists of blades moulded out of plastic, and configured to get the most grip on any surface. There are two configurations on sale, one for playing on hard pitches, and one for the winter months which optimises grip for playing in the mud. These blades are FIFA approved and Adidas call them the Traxion System.

The Leather

As you would expect, the genuine leather is of the best quailty, and if looked after properly will last and last!

The Fins and Jets

The Fins and Jets are the part of the boot which has revolutionised not only soccer footwear, but arguably the quality of soccer from those who wear them! These are simply rubber attachments ( fixed onto the boot) which will give the ball more swerve, more bend, more power and will let you control the ball more precisely. The 'Fins and Jets' are positioned over the front of the boots up to the bottom of the laces and around either side of the boot, giving the Fins and Jets plenty of chances to make contact with the ball.

Comfort

Adidas have employed their 'feet you wear' technology with these boots. The insole is basically a foam sock, which you're feet will slip into nicely. These boots are extremely comfortable, no worries about blisters here, they are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn.

Looks

The boots look the part as well as play the part. Sleek design of the three stripes, the fins and jets add to the m
ystique of the boots, and the tounge is very, very stylish. The toungue covers the length of the lace hoops, and has a velcro fastener at the end to attach them to the boot. I'd still recommend tying the toungue down with your laces though, as this ensures that the toungue stays in position!

Brief History

The Predator Design, specifically the Fins and Jets, were designed in 1986, not by Adidas, but by an ex footballer by the name of Craig Johnstone. He was an Austrailian and one of his more famous clubs was Liverpool. Since then, the boots have had many guises, and a new model usually makes an appearance every couple of years. Nowadays, you'll find that the best footballers in the world wear the Adidas Predator, not least David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Alessandro Del Piero et. al.

Cost

These boots will set you back in the region of £100 - £120. I bought mine for £120 but if you shop around i.e on the Web, you're aure to find a bargain somewhere!

*Adidas' designs eg Traxion System, Fins and Jets and the Feet you Wear designs are worth paying the money for!

The best football boots I have ever owned, and thats a lot of pairs in my 15 career to date!
