Advantages: Relaxation, chill out
Disadvantages: Muscle aching the next day.
I love Yoga. It is great. I go to classes at my lovely Courtney's in Balham. AT first I thought easy life. Lying around on mats, deep yogic breathing or pranayama. What was Madonna whinging about? Then after they have lulled you into a false sense of deep breathing security comes the hard bit. Flex here, bend here, stretch here. Don't breathe, breathe now. phew! This part consists of different postures or asanas which stretch different muscles (you can tell which the next day). There is the Sun Salutation, the Dolphin, the Triangle, the Headstand, the Shoulderstand and loads of others that I cannot pronounce. After all this bending, flexing, stretching, you lie on the floor again and relax. mmmmmmmmmm lovely. Afterwards you feel great and you will sleep really well at night. Next day, is a completely different story. You feel like you will have done ten rounds with Mike Tyson. You will have muscles that you never knew were even there. Oddly enough, you will probably want to do it again. And you could even end up with a body like Geri or Mdonna. Well that is what I keep telling myself.

- 03/03/01 Unfortunately the yoga teacher at my gym ( LA Fitness in Bromley) has a really annoying voice so I gave it up... would like to get back into it though ( may buy a vid) !! |
