Advantages: All metal construction

Disadvantages: Getting the open sights to work.

I've owned the SMK B3-F .22 Underlever for several months now. I was very impressed with it on first sight. i payed £45 just for the air rifle alone.

The finish isn't that bad, but not perfect. I tried the open sights that come fitted first, and found that getting them set to shoot correctly was a problem. Due to the barrel droop, and all these guns suffer from this, the adjustment screw on the sights wasn't long enough to get the rear sight high enough. This was easily solved by filing the front pin to shorten it. Once this was done, they were very good.

I then decided to change the open sights for the SMK 4x20 scope. Much better for accuracy. Easier to aquire the target, without having to line up the noth/pin as on the open sights.

I would advise anyone who gets this gun, or any of the B2/B3's to get a tin of the cheap SMk pellets, and fire the entire tin through. This will remove all the oil in the barrle, and work all the rough edges of the mechanics.

Despite what people claim, this gun only produces aprox 5.5Ftlbs. Chrono reading using Eley Wasp 397 fps.

I have just replaced the mainspring with a Titan XS, and at just under £20, this has increased the power. The gun also fires smoother with the new spring, and plenty of grease.

Now that SMK have introduced a sound suppressor for the B3-F, I have just ordered one, and will fit this when it arrives. Only for those who use the gun with a scope, as you are required to cut the hooded sights of the barrel to fit the suppressor.

The accuracy of the gun depends on what range you want to shoot over. It will do what the instructions say 30mm dia at 10m, but at 20m then I can't get it to shoot any more acurate than 150 dia circle, and this is with a bipod.

I have an air rifle myself, plus a BBgun. Very useful items. I shot someone with my bbgun for fun, but they didnt see the funny side.
