Disadvantages: Misleading information on contract notice

I think that potential customers for Bannatynes need to be aware of the contract that they will sign to become a member, I have just spoken with a member of staff at the head office in County Durham who has advised me that mine and my husbands contract does state that we have to give 3 months notice to cancel our membership, although when we joined we were told verbally it was only 1 months notice to cancel. Due to unfortunate circumstances my husband has now been made redundant and therefore we are looking to reduce our household costs, however I have been advised that the 3 month notice still applies. I am very disappointed that Duncan Banntyne does not lift any restrictions in circumstances like these or show any compassion, I will be writing to our local paper in the hope that it will dissuade people from joining such a penny pinching group that currently resides in Tamworth, and hopefully force this company to open their eyes to the current economic situation that almost everyone in the UK is experiencing.

Summary: Unsympathetic in unfortunate circumstances
