Advantages: Thin, light, warm, not too warm, fits under helmets

I do quite a lot of walking, both in summer and winter, and work in the outdoors too. This hat is great, and to be honest I'm not sure what I did before I got it! If it's really cold and windy you can use a thick windproof hat like the almost legendary lowe alpine mountain cap, but for those times when it's just ordinarily cold and breezy you need something light, or you end up with a chilly or hot/sweaty noggin!

This hat is fleecy on the inside and kind of 'normal' fabric on the outside. It's thin and stretchy, and is ideal for UK winters when you are out and about. If you're walking you don't want too much warmth, and it cuts out a reasonable amount of wind too. Being a fleece fabric if it gets wet you can just wring it out and it will still be reasonably warm.

Because it's thin it will fit under other head-gear. I've used mine under a chainsawing helmet and under a climbing helmet too. It's quite long so you need to turn the bottom edge up, fine normally, but under a helmet this is a little annoying.
