Advantages: Quick changing in seconds, takes up little room, good ranges
Disadvantages: At £250 some might be put off
Not everyone can afford a gym membership, but a lot of people want to get fit for the summer, whethers its losing weight, toning up, or putting on muscle.
After being a fan of dumbbells myself, I knew I wouldnt be able to get to a gym very often, so it was pointless paying the prices. I had several dumbbells bar and quite a few different weights for them. I sat at home working out and organising the perfect workout, when I could do it, what I would start lifting, what exercises. The complete workout was sorted. I was completely looking forward to starting it.
It got to the weekend and I thought I would start. I set up my first two dumbbells and started the workout! After the first exercise, I wanted to go into the next, doing whast known as super sets. Instead of this however, I would sit down, unscrew the ends of the bars holding the weights on. Then pull off the weights I didnt want, put on the new weights for the next exercise. Finally I'd screw on the ends again to keep the weights on.
Anyone who does weights will know that you dont use the same weight for everything. Its coming sense that you're going to be curling a lot less than you are pressing. This just made me not even want to do the workout. I was so tired of changing the weights every time. I thought about purchasing more weights and bars, but I knew I didnt have the room and it was unrealistic.
This is where I done a bit of research and found the best fitness buy I've bought.
Bowflex are two dumbbells, that come in a stand with knobs to turn at each end of the weight. The numbers at each end on the knobs go from 2 to 21, and each mean kilograms. To get a selected weight, you simply and easily turn the knob to the number/weight you want on both end, and lift it out of the case. The first time I used these I couldnt believe it! It took litrally 5 seconds to change the weight of the dumbbells from 16kg to 20kg. This was perfect!
The weights I got were 2kg-21kg. This was the range I was ideally looking for. However these also come in heavier ranges for anyone wishing to go any further.
The price, some may seem as being expensive, is around about £250 when ordered online. This however I had no problem with paying. If I signed upto a gym I would be paying around £50 start up fee, then £30-40 a month. If I wanted to purchase more weights, if I wanted to get a good range and different dumbbell bars it would have been very expensive too! The price for these two compact dumbbells are great!
They take up no room at all either! For anyone wanting to tone up or bulk up for the summer, these little devils are perfect!
Summary: For any fitness guru, these are a purchase of a lifetime!
