Advantages: promotes sleep, comfort
Disadvantages: ?
Camping mats. My husband is a little like The Princess in the story the Princess and the pea. You know the one where to tell if the Princess is really a Princess the Prince puts a pea under the mattress on her bed, she can still feel it when her bed is piled high of mattresses. My husband cannot sleep on lumps and bumps, a tiny stone or a twig under his sleeping bag when we go camping causes a sleepless night. (Whereas I can sleep any where on anything) To cure this many years ago we bought sleeping mats, strips of waterproof foam we do own several my husband and I both have a green one each they are quite wide fill up our 2-man tent. We also have a narrower grey one that he does not like using. It is too narrow creates an edge, which can be felt. We bought our green ones for about 5 pounds years ago I believe they are about 10 pounds now there cheaper and more expensive mats. The narrower one was cheaper bought when Sleepydormouse came camping with us. We have had ours about 20 years now. Have used then for camping holidays most years. When we go to Glastonbury and other festivals my husband takes his .I do not it is too much extra to carry. We also use our if we have guests to stay either they or us sleep on the floor on them. We take them with us if we have to sleep on the floor when visiting friends and relatives. My husband finds them more comfortable than a lot of people’s spare beds. They are good for camping protect against the damp as well as added comfort. Fairly light roll up well. They come in a variety of colours now red, green, orange, blue, purple, and black patterned as well I believe. If you cannot sleep on the floor in comfort I would certainly recommend one as my husband sleeps soundly on his. Thanks for reading
