What a name... what's that when I first saw and advertisement on it at the hostel I was staying in Salzburg. That's new to me... and it was described in the poster as an adventure through the canyon, involving hiking and swimming. Hmmmm... sounds interesting to me, maybe I should try and so I did. Well beause the water is freezing cold in Austria even in summer, I was given two wet suites to wear.. why.. the guide said I was too small, one would not be enough, I would be frozen. That's something encouraging for a start.. freeze!!! Have I joined the right adventure or what? I started to get a little apprehensive about it, then again I thought it shouldn't be so bad, as I enjoyed the rafting a lot just prior to this second adventure of the day. Ok... hiking and swimming... no problem for me. At the start, wow that was nice walking through some rocks was not too bad at all, oh I thought, I am enjoying myself so far. And then.... boom... came the very first adventure.. we were asked to jump off a clift into the water... oh no... the water is clean, but due to its dark colour I can't see the bottom... what's inside, will I knock into some rocks!! Here comes my turn... heart beating so fast suddenly.. I hesitated, so the guide offered to jump down with me.. boom straight into the water. Ok wasn't that bad.. still.. SCARY. And as we go along, we had to jump off higher cilffs, some we even had to run and jump to avoid some sticking out rocks. Boy... that was the most thrilling thing I've ever done in my life. Looking back now, I don't think I will do it again but I'm glad I tried. So for those of you who are seeking thrill, this is it... and if you are wondering what canyoning is next time, besides the swimming and hiking as advertised on most posters, it also involved jumping off cliffs. I think they should put that in the posters as well.... are you up for it???
