I've been doing circuits at the local gym for a couple of years now, and recommend it as a way both to familiarise yourself with the equipment if you're new to the gym, and to tone and get fit. The circuit I do is also very social and we always have a cappucino and chat afterwards! Keeps us motivated :) If you've never used a gym before , you will probably be somewhat mystified if not downright terrified of the machines. You will have to complete an introductory session, but however long that is, it won't be long enough to really help you feel confident with using a gym on your own. Circuit Training is very common in urban areas around the country. It consists of a number of activities performed one after the other. To most athletes, circuit training is thought of as a method of intergrating resistance and aerobic exercise by performing several (nine to twelve) exercises in progression. This means perfoming one set of each exercise on the session 'menu' until all have been completed, as opposed to finishing all sets of the first exercise before progressing to the second with little or no rest between exercises.
