Advantages: very well built and very sophisticated, packed with useful features, robust, collapsible, flexible to many different people's needs
Disadvantages: price is steep, no cheaper designs by Concept II I know of
Using an indoor rowing is a very rewarding experience. It offers an all-over workout of muscles and is a powerful cardio-vascular exercise comparable to swimming. Using a rower is very flexible and suits many needs, it can be easily used for general fitness or convenient training or as an all-round accompaniment to other sports or weights training. Rowing as a sport is very demanding and is a pure endurance sport. There are many benefits of rowing and so makes it perfect for building strength, power and stamina. These aspects are not accessible to most and so an indoor rower is the only option. It is very convenient, no rowing experience is required and is adjustable to your own situation. The Concept II has to be the supreme indor rower available and with a minimum price tag of a whopping £846, won't appeal to nearly all of us as a home rower, so I won't concentrate on use at home! Obviously this is mostly suited to use in gyms and you'll probably find one or two at your local club. Everything, as you'd expect is ergonomically designed and totally adjustable. Your bum sits neatly in to the seat whislt your feet are securely strapped at the right height for maximum extension at the release. There is some sophisticated electronics that accompany the Concept II, the unnassuming display of the Personal Monitor gives full calculations and statistics on your rowing. These include strokes per minute, calories burnt, heart rate, metres, cumulative time, watts used and your /500m time. There is also the option of linking up to softare on a laptop to give personal records and graphical displays helping to monitor your progress if you are a serious rower. If you are a rower, you will find the Concept II endlessly useful for training and to improve your technique and refine your muscle memory when out of the water, although you obviously have no blades to control. Concept II are leaders in indoor rowingand are used by m
any countries' rowing teams. Concept II also hold national indoor rowing competitions and a national ladder, so get rowing! Harry
