Advantages: Safety, Peace of Mind, cheap

Disadvantages: None

As a cyclist, and formerly a car driver, I understand the need to be seen by other traffic at night.

It is amazing how reflective material can make the difference between a car driver seeing you in good time,
or a driver only seeing you at the last second.

Even the little reflectors on most pedals are effective!

If you want to be safe, I recommend popping down to a good bike shop and getting some reflective stickers, i purchased some for less than a fiver from halfords (no comments about their service, thats another review later on)
and they are really good.

I have even stuck some on my trainers! They are small silver stickers, with amazing glue, they dont peel off!!

Or you could get some of the orange type strips, or pedal clips which are also really visible at night.

Please remember though, these are IN ADDITION to good lights, and normal reflectors!

Safe cycling everyone.

totally agree, lights are VITAL

Plus additional note to original opinion - just read that that stickers are effective if stuck on the inside of the wheel rim....

Thought I would pass it on as it sounds good (have not tried it yet, got to save up for more stickers :)

)

safe cycling everyone

I'm glad you mentioned normal lights too.... I was getting worried. Some of the trendy bikes on sale just have a reflector on the front and read. I also prefer battery lights as they work when you're stationary. Shame the dynamo can't recharge the batteries, like on a car.

You are correct in everything that you are saying. What I would like to add though, is that it is not just your own safety you should be thinking of when riding your bike but also the safety of others. After all we don't have the right to jeopardize the lives of others through ignorant acts such as riding unseen in the dark.
I am glad that sensible people such as your good self are producing such good advice and common sense in these opinions.
