I bought a Suunto Vyper 3 months ago after diving for 6 years with my previous, much loved (Oceanic) computer. I have to say that I've been very impressed - particularly with the amount of features for the money! The Vyper is a computer that provides full decompression information, and when in deco mode it displays the total time to surface: total stop times plus ascent times at its recommended rate. So far I've done 160 dives or so using a Suunto Favor. It’s a nice neat size and I have no problem reading the numerals on the LCD screen. When I bought it I thought it would last me a long time as it is a full decompression computer, but having done Nitrox training in the interim it is now unsuitable for some of the dives I’m doing. It does, however, operate in "Gauge" mode, unlike the popular Aladin range. This means it still functions as a timer/depth gauge if you bend it, as can happen if diving to computer generated tables and gases other than air. It only cost 140 ukp though, a good price considering its functionality, ...
