Advantages: Sturdy, secure trike, lots of fun for toddlers.

Disadvantages: Steering column a little clunky.

My little girl was given the ELC Super Trike as a first birthday present from her grandparents. She loves to be outdoors and was getting fed up of being pushed around in her pram so this fitted the bill as an alternative mode of transport.

The Trike is made of sturdy metal and plastic pieces, it does take a bit of time to build so would suggest that this be done before your child spots it on their birthday so as they don't get upset having to wait for it to be ready.

I would rate it as being quite safe and secure for a small child, it has a good safety belt which goes over both shoulders and has bars around the side so they don't slip out. There are pedals and also foot rests, so when the child is small and can't yet turn the pedals, the "clutch" can be used and the pedals don't turn. Once the child gets bigger and more steady, then the pedals can be brought back into play and the side bars can be removed.

The model that we have also has a rain / sun canopy, a drinks holder and a little mobile phone toy in its own holder. There is also a useful bucket at the bag for taking bits and pieces along. One gripe I have is that the mobile phone holder is right in front of the child's face and, as our little girl is a bit small, she tends to move her face quite close to this bit which can give her a little bump.

There is also a parent handle which is really useful as it saves you from getting a sore back pushing them around! Steering the trike with the handle is OK, not great, but you manage to get from A to B.

So, all in all, this has been a really well used toy that will last a few years as it can progress into a normal trike for an older toddler. It is a little more expensive that some trikes but does have extra features so I would recommend it to other Mums and Dads.

Summary: A great bike that toddlers (and parents) will love and use for a long time.
