Too much socialising (Fitness First (Brixton))
Member Name: suzanneb84
Advantages: Normally quiet Disadvantages: Poor facilities, clique atmosphere This is defiantley a no-frills gym. I pay 48 pound a month which gets me unlimited access to all London FF's with a 3m contract... which is a good thing as my local one is Brixton and it is not great - lockers are always broke, tv screens dont work and it looks a little grimy around the edges. The papers and drink are free but not always available and the personal trainers... well they are good if you pay them im sure but in comparison to some of the other london ones they are no overly helpful - they huddle at reception chatting or wander the gyms chatting to their clients/regulars... doesnt get them new business and doesnt help non-clients benefit most from their membership. On the plus, it is well set out, there are normally machines free and the air con is faithfully on all the time, which because it is in a small room, it needs it! There is a seperate fitness area but the "scene" seems to be where the weights are... overall the club has a feel that there are a lot of locals who go to socialise. However i would say i do not feel intimidated there and i get no hassle so if that is what you want it is fine. Summary: Cheap and cheerful |
