Advantages: Great Variety Of Machines

Disadvantages: None

Anyone that has read my About Me will know that my partner sadly suffered a miscarriage recently. Due to this we both decided to go on a bit of a health kick and join a gym. After checking round our local area we decided to go with Fitness First.
We called in around 9pm on a Thursday night and the lady who we spoke to was very nice, and also had a bit of a weight problem which helped to reassure Caroline that it wasn't just skinny people who attended.
We were shown round for nearly an hour and then decided to join up. We took on an offer which was £35 for a month, then £22 a month after that. We signed up for a year. The first payment is taken Direct Debit within a few days and then every 2nd of each month.
Our deal meant that we had to attend 4 sessions, plus 3 with a personal trainer within 30 days and then we got our £35 back.
The personal training sessions were very good and helped us figure out which machines we should use and how long we should use them for.
The gym is a good size and the changing rooms are spotless with free shampoo and showergel. The lockers are operated using your membership card and have hangers and hooks inside. They also supply free hairdryers and straighteners for £1.
When we signed up we were given a free backpack and sweat towel, along with a membership book full of hints and tips and money off vouchers.
The actual gym is over two floors. The ground floor has a free weights room and a spinning class room. There are treadmills, cross trainers, bikes, steppers and rowing machines. I have yet to have to wait to use a machine at any time of the day. There are about ten televisions above the machines and all the machines are fitted with headphone sockets and you can choose which channel to watch. You can bring your own headphones or buy them there.
Upstairs there is a small weight section, and also a few rooms where various classes are held. They is also a sauna and aromatheraphy room, as well as sunbeds. The only thing you need to pay extra for is the sunbeds.
Overall I think this is a good gym and would recommend anyone to go. It isn't all full of muscle building people, or really skinny people, but rather people from all generations and all shapes and sizes.

Summary: Check It Out

You do get the odd poser in ours, but to be honest it is mainly "normal" people, with a lot of older people.

Sounds like my kind of gym, I hate places that are full of posers! Sorry to hear about your's and Carolines loss. Hope things look up for you! :) x
