Reasonably priced gym but not the cheapest (Fitness First in General)
Member Name: sficentre
Advantages: Very clean, lots of clubs around London Disadvantages: No swimming pool I have recently joined and was quite impressed, although there are a few disadvantages. The main disadvantage for me is they don't have swimming pools at most of thier clubs. I guess if you're not into swimming that's ok, but for the price I did expect them to have a swimming pool. I had a 1 day pass and the woman who showed me around wasn't pushy into trying to sell a membership but I overheard her talking to a receptionist "...who have no intention of joining" so from what it sounds like she begrudges giving free passes out unless you are going to join. The receptionists are normally friendly, however there is a receptionist who hardly smiles and avoids eye contact when handing over your member card...obviously her looks got her the job rather than personality! On to the gym, it is generally good, high quality equipment and very clean. Prices - I pay £45.95 per month, 3 month contract with 1 month notice. I didn'tm pay a joining fee and got the rest of the month free which is good considering I joined on the 7th. But I had to pay £44.95 for an induction, they say I can get this money back if I come back 10 times in 28 days. I know I'm able to use any blue label club (one's without a swimming pool or any luxuries) and I do not think there are any time restrictions on when I can use the gym - nothing about peak/off-peak was mentioned. I should mention that this was a student rate though. Summary: Worth looking at all your options before you sign up |
