They may make you look a bit stupid but they are another piece of valuble walking gear. Gaiters come in all shapes sizes and colours but do the same job but to different lengths. Their general purpose is to keep your feet dry, stop things entering your boots (when walking through heather, some always ends up in your socks) and keep your trousers clean. Gaiters- they may look stupid but they are a life saver.If you participate in walks that involve mud and water I would advise a pair of Gaiters.Not only do they keep your feet dry(no boot is waterproof because they all have a hole in the top)they also protect your boots. Most Gaiters do the same job,you are looking at spending anywhere from £10 and upwards.
