Let me expand on that. Climbing is a combination of strength, technique, mental resilience, determination and cool gadgetry. As well as this, the location for climbing is generally in an area of great outstanding beauty and on a cool geological feature. It is a rare person indeed who doesn't get invigorated by natural beauty and cool rock features. To be a good climber you must have a combination of strong fingers, a Zen like calm when confronted with difficult manoeuvres and of course a good head for heights. The castle-climbing centre. This is situated in north London. It is an excellent indoor climbing centre which puts my local indoor climbing wall to shame in Essex, (read my opinion on Essex uni climbing wall for more info). It has loads of climbing walls about 60 walls with a few roots on each wall, and it also has loads of boldering walls. The walls range from moulded texture to straight flat board. There are loads of facilities there, from café with an Internet computer that can be used for 50p access fee. Warning the person who runs the café can get annoyed when you disturb her talking to her friends when you want to order some thing! The food is ...

I'm a fell walker, have been for years. But a few weeks ago, along came foot & mouth disease and closed all the paths. Bummer, what do I do now? I know, I'll have a go at climbing. But again, the countryside's closed off. Little did I know Liverpool had its own indoor climbing centre - Awesome Walls Climbing Centre (AWCC). The AWCC is really easy to get to - a ten minute walk from Sandhills station, which is a five-minute journey from Liverpool city centre (a return ticket is only £1).
