Advantages: simple, cheap, good introduction

Disadvantages: breaks easily, cheap components, restricting

I've had my boulder for just over a year and a half and in that time i've had a number of problems with the bike. The bike gives an introduction to mountain biking but will hold you back as you get better. the bike is not geared towards any particular style of riding so you aren't goin to be able to specialise in one particular style.
as i said before it is a good introduction and would probably be better for the weekend rider who wants to ride for fitness.
the bike itself is made of fairly cheap components giving the bike a low price tag. one component probably worth upgrading would be the suspension forks.new comers to MTBiking won't know the difference between
good brands of suspension and bad brands. the sr suntours fitted on the boulder are the bad sort. mine broke fairly soon after i bought the bike and required upgrading. other components worth upgrading are the pedals, gears and handlebars.
in short this is a good bottom range bike for first timers. but could do with component improvements. a pity because the cross country frame is lightweight and strong.
