Advantages: Fantastic price, good quality, potential to last years, freebie gift.

Disadvantages: The easy fold mechanism is far from it, infact doesn't exist

After leaving the much loved FiFi 3 wheeled scooter out in the rain for a couple of days and being driven mad by its now incesant squeeking, I bought this Groovy Chick scooter for my 4 and a half year old daughter. She had outgrown the smaller scooter and was desperate for "a pink one with 2 wheels that goes reeeaaally fast"

I bought this in Argos 2 month ago. At the time it was reduced by half price to £9.97, which was the same price as a similar, but plainer unbranded scooter. However what really swung it for this one was the 'freebie' lip gloss in a plastic mobile phone shaped case.

However, while I thought I got a bargain, when I visited the Argos website to aquire links to suggest this product to Dooyoo, I discovered this scooter has now been reduced further to a frankly give away price of £6.99. If your going to rush over there now to snap up this bargain, I should warn you you do need to type the product name into the search function, as its difficult to find under 'scooters' alone. (Groovy chick scooter will find it for you)

* The Product *

The groovy chick inline scooter is a 2 wheeled scooter, with back wheel brake. It has a large decorated standing board, 3 height adjustments, foam handles and it apparently features a 'quick release folding mechanism'(I'll get to that in my opinion section though) It's very girly in decoration, predominently Pink, Silver and Lilac. It's designed for children over 5 years of age, and upto 50 kg.

The 'freebie' lip gloss case, is nothing to get excited about really, although as an extra it's a nice touch, and if your daughters anything like mine, they will appreciate it. It's translucent pink plastic shaped like a mobile phone and contains 3 very pale lip glosses and mirror. It has a quite long strap, which I decided to remove for safety reasons. Think magazine freebie and you get the idea.

* What do I think? *

Firstly, the scooter actually comes flat packed, but I found it very easy to put together (and I'm rubbish with these things). It looks great, very sleek and very good quality.

The height adjustments are easy to use and offers a good range. We have it on the smallest setting, so will get a good few years from this. The footplate is quite wide too, and extremely sturdy. My daughter does struggle to use the back brake at present, mainly due to the length of the board versus the size of her legs (I can't see this being a problem for older children), and this has resulted in a few falls, luckily no major injury! I now insist she wears elbow and knee pads though to save scrapes and holes in clothes. It is indeed very fast and smooth. My daughter loves it!

My one negative as you might have already guessed is the easy release fold mechanism. I can not get the scooter to fold at all. My dad has tried and failed too. I store the scooter in the garage, and twice took it in the car where it did fit into the boot while upright, so not having this feature hasn't affected us. However if you buy this because your expecting this feature and want to use it, it is dissapointing.

Overall, I am very pleased with this product, and so is my daughter. It will last for years and seems sturdy enough to expect that it will. I thought it well worth the £9.97 I paid, so for £6.99 it's a steal! I'd highly reccomend you buy knee and elbow pads though, or the cost of replacing ruined clothes could outweigh this!

Summary: Hours of fun, big health benefits...get active!
