I first began to learn trampolining about 4 years ago, primarily because it sounded like an interesting alternative to the run of the mill sports that most of my friends were into. I soon realised that not only was it a great sport but it also gave me the opportunity to meet loads of people at the same time. You don’t need to be especially fit to learn this new sport. Where I learnt trampolining they even had the facilities for some disabled people to learn in one to one sessions. It’s excellent for building up the muscles in your lower legs and after I smashed my ankle my physiotherapist actually suggested it to me as an excellent exercise for ... Read the complete review

I guess gymnastics is one of those sports you either love or you hate, (or thats what ive found). During PE lessons at school people either hated it or loved it. (I was one of the latter!) I really, really hated the traditional "team game" of netball. Id simply never been taught to play it at my old primary school, then when we moved to Wales everyone knew how to play it, then I moved to high school, there it was compulsory! (typical huh!) so basically I went from year 7 to year 11 not having a clue!! So when it was the gymnastics weeks, I was in my element! There isnt much I can write about gymnastics, seen as im no expert on the ... Read the complete review

Gymnastics has been part of my life since 1976, where I watched the wonderful routines of Nadia Comaneci, the Romanian who score seven perfect tens during the Montreal Olympics. I was 6 years old. I started doing gymnastics myself and only gave up training, once I had children of my own and now my 7 year old daughter (named Emilia, after famous Romanian gymnast, Emilia Eberle !) is also a gymnast. I think gymnastics is a great sport to do and to watch, especially as there are several branches of the sport to suit any fan - rhythmics, sports acro, etc. It is also a sport you can participate it at any level, from training yourself, to coaching or ... Earlier on this evening I was watching a children's television programme called "Trading Places". It is where English children trade places with children who do the same activity in other countries. Today the feature was gymnastics. Three English gymnasts traded places with three Russian gymnasts. I was shocked by what I saw happening in the Russian gym. I know the Russians are very good at gymnastics and have a reputation for achieving very highly in world championships but what they go through to get there is terrible. Little children were being trained so hard, apparently they were treating the sport with much more seriousness than they ... Read the complete review

I went to my fisrt gymnastics class when I was 4 years old, and took part in my first competition at age 6. I was hooked and even though I haven't been to a gym class since I was 14, I'm still into it. Women's artistic gymnastics consists of 4 main disciplines : bars, beam, floor and vault. As well as these, some comps include conditioning routines, which is basically a short music-less floor routine which focusses on control. As with many things, learning a language, tap dancing, swimming etc, the younger you start, the easier it is. 4 year olds are naturally more flexible than 10 year olds, and so can do more with less pain. Plus, once ... Read the complete review
