Another great way to not feel quite so vulnerable is to get a full induction of your personal trainer. Although, you do look a bit stupid wandering around trying all the machines, it is essential for both safety and to enable you to get the most out of your workout. Crowned Review Gyms - General: Don't Overlook Your Local Leisure Centre... (999 words)
by - written on 14/10/02 (Very useful, 289 readings)
Rating:

I'd been meaning to join a gym for ages, really I had. But the guys at work were paying a whopping £80 per month at Cannons in central London, and that was on top of a joining fee - all a bit expensive, I concluded. Unsurprisingly, I put the gym on hold, but office discussions about treadmills and cycle machines got me feeling a little left out...and that was when I remembered that there was another gym right on my doorstep. This is how I discovered the fitness suite at Cranleigh Leisure Centre. I went to school in this village and we used to have swimming lessons at the centre, which always seemed a little tatty. I suppose I'd always assumed that the ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review The Third Space - get fit in luxury surroundings (1544 words)
by - written on 07/01/02 (Very useful, 694 readings)
Rating:

The Third Space gym is situated in Sherwood Street, approximately one minutes walk from Piccadilly Circus Tube Station. It's easy to get to either on the tube, via the Piccadilly Line, or using local bus routes. I've been attending this gym regularly since the middle of last year. The company I work for organised a corporate membership for us, and now all employees who want to can sign up as a member. **** Layout The Third Space has been designed with no expense spared and it does look very impressive compared to some of the standard gyms I've been to. It's built over three levels. The first floor encompasses the pool, changing ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Gyms - General: Try Snap Me Now Mister Hurricane. (1576 words)

Rating:

I have decided to attempt to overcome one of my life's biggest obstacles. I have decided to confront a phobia of mine. Unfortunately the lovely Davina McCall has got absolutely nothing to do with it. I am always willing to make a large mammary of myself, but not on prime time television. I have a phobia of exercise. I was frightened of running machines. I was frightened of lifting heavy things unnecessarily. I was frightened of the woman in the corner grunting like a bear and bench pressing a Citroen. My decision involves me joining a gym. It really is a last gasp attempt to get healthy. I'm trying to get addicted to exercise, ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Always the Place People Love to Exercise (APPLE) (1325 words)
by - written on 14/03/03 (Very useful, 243 readings)
Rating:

The Apple Athletic Club was a small gym, with very few facilities, and a smaller pool. The new improved Apple Athletic Club is AWESOME!!!!!!!! No really it is. On the ground floor: The ground floor, through the 2 sets of double doors, in between which there are a list of today’s activities. Into the reception area: The reception area: To your left as you pass through the second set of double doors, there a some small silver tables, each with 2 chairs, and the new nursery which is of reasonable size, and can hold quit a few kids, trust me!!! One day I was with a friend and her child and we went to drop the child off in there, and DAMN there ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Gyms - General: Tips & Advise to get the best gym membership (882 words)
by - written on 31/01/09 (Very useful, 106 readings)
Rating:

Here's some inside info on Fitness First and how to get the upper hand: Follow these rules to get the best membership rates. 1) suggest your really keen to join TODAY but you don't want to pay the joining fee. FF sales staff are not targetted on joining fee's so will waver this completely if they think you will join that day. 2) You will always have to pay the admin fee, this is a clever fee designed by the fitness industry as a whole to get more money out of you. sorry 3)Join right at the end of a month. The sales staff are desperate to hit their targets and will give you all sorts of reductions (many will put you onto a reduced corporate rate ...  Read the complete review
