I bought this for my two year old son after debating the safety of children being transported via bicycle and decided for my needs that a trailer would be the safest option. The trailer itself is reasonably light and isn't vastly noticable weight wise when towing it. Though you do notice a difference when adding a child and a hill to the equation! But in honesty after two weeks i didnt notice it anymore as i had got used to the extra weight.
