Advantages: Great company
Disadvantages: None
Head have been making sports equipment for many many years now. They have become very popular in the sport of tennis, and lots of professionals play with Head tennis racquets. Last year head brought out a new range of tennis racquets but what is it that makes them just so brilliant? Head Intelligence ------------------ Head have claimed to have made a big break through in racquet technology. They have created a new fiber called intellifiber. It is made from piezoelectric materials. This is like no other form of material that has been used to make a tennis racquet before. It transforms the mechanical energy from ball impact into an electrical response that stiffens the racquet for ultimate power. It does this in less then a millisecond. No matter how strong the material, a traditional aluminium racquet will still bend upon ball impact. This bending causes a loss of power and control, which are the two most important things in tennis. Unlike mechanical energy, electrical energy does not create vibrations. So when playing with an intellifiber racquet, the vibrations are immediately eliminated when contact is made with the ball for more comfort. Racquets --------- Head have made over fifteen racquets in the last year. All of them are slightly different from each other. Some have more power and less control, and others have less power and more control. Ti Power -------- The Ti Power range from Head is obviously racquets with a lot of power. After playing with a couple of these racquets I found that the amount of power that the racquets had in them took a lot of getting use too. I was having to hit a lot of topspin to keep the ball in and I was fighting with the racquet. Ti S6 ------ This racquet is the top selling racquet in the world. The head size is 740 sq cm, which is very large and creates a lot of power. The racquet is made out of
a mixture of titanium and graphite and it weighs only 225g. I recommend this racquet to somebody who wants to liven up their game and wants to create more power on their shots. This racquet costs £200. Ti S5 ------ This is another racquet from the Ti Power series. The head size is 690 sq cm, which is larger then your average racquet head size. It weighs 235g and is made out of a mixture of titanium and graphite. I would recommend this racquet for a player that needs more power in their game. You also will need to have a lot of control, but this racquet will help anybodies game. This racquet costs £189.99 but if you look around for a better price I am sure that you will find one. Ti S4 ------ This racquet is very similar to the Ti S4. It weighs in at 240g and its head size is 690 sq cm. It is made out of a mixture of titanium and graphite. It is a colourful and bright tennis racquet with a big yellow streak just above the grip and along the bottom of the head. I would recommend this racquet to a young junior is can't create enough power themselves or to the older tennis player, as you don't have to work too hard to create a lot of power. It costs £169.99 so make sure you try one out before you buy it, because you don't want to pay that much money for a racquet only to get it home and find out that it doesn't suit your game one bit. Ti S2 ------ This racquet is very popular and is brightly coloured in red. The head size is 660sq cm and it weighs 245g. It is made out of titanium and graphite and is a very good racquet. You get a lot of feel on the ball for such a powerful racquet and young aggressive players like Alena Dokic play with this racquet. It costs £149.99. Ti Junior --------- This racquet, again in the power series is for the up and coming British tennis players. It is a junior racquet and is made for players about 12 and under. It is a replic
a of the Ti S2 but obviously is shorter and weighs only 230g. I would recommend this racquet for juniors who are a little bit too small for a full size racquet. It creates a lot of power on the ball and has a nice feel to it. It costs £69, which I know sounds like a lot but it will help any junior’s game. --------------------------------------------- Ti Radical ---------- Andre Agassi plays with a Head Ti Radical racquet and he has won all four grand slams. Suggesting that maybe he has a bit of talent but the racquet must be good to. Ti Radical O/S -------------- This racquet is quite powerful but also has a fair bit of control. The head size is 690 sq cm and it weighs in at 295g. This is quite heavy for a tennis racquet and I found it hard to play with. This is because I play with a much lighter racquet and notice the difference. Something that I would say to people that are thinking about buying this racquet is make sure you try it out first. If you play with a heavy racquet already then this racquet would suit you very well, but I wouldn't suggest moving from a lighter racquet to this one. It is made out of Titanium Graphite and costs £139.99 but if you look around you will get a better price. Ti Radical Mid Plus ------------------- This racquet is similar to the one above. It is red and silver and has a head size of 630sq cm. This is around your average head size and has a good mixture of power and control. It weighs 295g, which is the same as the one above, so again I warn you about going from a heavy racquet to this racquet and not going from a lighter racquet. It is made from a mixture of titanium and graphite and would cost you £139.99, but again if you look around a better price will pop up. Radical Junior -------------- This racquet is very similar to the Ti Junior but it is a little bit heavier at 270g. Players younger then 9 would find i
t hard to play with this racquet, as they might find it a bit to heavy and hard to control the racquet head speed. This racquet costs £49.99 so is a little bit cheaper then the other junior racquet. --------------------------------------------- Ti Control ---------- This series of racquets is excellent and I highly recommend any of these racquets. Obviously these racquets are based around control, but I have found all of these racquets to have power as well. Ti Laser --------- This racquet is in a group of four other racquets. I find it not to be the best in the group but is still a great piece of equipment. It weighs in at 245g which is quite light for a tennis racquet. Playing with a light tennis racquet allows you to build up more racquet head speed, thus hitting more topspin and gaining more power. The head size on this racquet is 660sq cm and it is made out of titanium and graphite. This racquet would suit pretty much any game but I would recommend it for the young aggressive player. This racquet would cost you £149.99. Ti Fire -------- This has got to be my favourite racquet of all time. It has a perfect balance of control, power and accuracy and is generally a great racquet. It has a really good feel on it and an excellent sweet spot. It is light, at 255g but not too light. The head size is 660 sq cm. The racquet had shock stop on the handle, which stops the vibrations. This racquet would cost you £149.99 and I strongly recommend this racquet to a young aggressive player looking for a racquet to enhance their game. Ti Flash --------- This racquet weighs in at 250g and is a little bit lighter then the Ti Fire. The head size is 630 sq cm and is a racquet purely based on control. It also has a nice bit of power with it too though creating another good all-round racquet for any type of player. It costs £139.99 but can be found cheaper in other
shops. Ti Heat ------- This is another great racquet. It is very similar to the Ti Fire but is not quite as powerful. It weighs 265g and is also a bit heavier. It is made out of titanium and graphite. I would recommend this racquet to young aggressive players that want to increase racquet head speed. I have found this racquet very good for volleying. The balance of it is very good. It would cost you £99.99, which is very cheap for a racquet of this kind of quality. --------------------------------------------- As well as making tennis racquets, Head also make tennis racquet bags, which come in very useful. If people are wondering why players carry bags with about five racquets in, there is a simple answer. They break strings. It is possibly the most annoying thing when you are playing a match and you break a string in the middle of it and have no other racquet. I am a county standard tennis player and I carry four racquets around with me, so a racquet bag comes in very useful. Head do quite a few different types costing about £30 for a decent one. These bags have compartments for racquets, trainers, balls, drink flasks and other things along those kind of lines. Head also make a number of different types of trainers. They make trainers especially for tennis so the toes are always reinforced and the tread is very good. I would recommend a pair of trainers called Head CTech 6000. They are very comfortable, very grippy and easy to move about in. They cost about £60 but will last you for at least 6 months. I think that Head are a really good company because they make a really good range of products, suitable for pretty much anybody. Their items are not just practical but also stylish and are generally of a very high quality. I would recommend Head as a company to everybody, as they won't let you down. If you are looking to buy any of the items above I do recommend that you try
them out first because if you don't, you might end up with a £200 racquet that doesn't suit your game and you won't be able to get rid of it. lots of companies do a trial period on racquets. This allows you to try it out for say a month and if you like it, buy it, and if you don't you can just send it back. Racquets like this are called test racquets and are avaliable from most big tennis shops around the UK. I always find it easier to buy items online. A great online tennis store is www.pwp.com. They are based in the UK and have everything that you could be looking for and are very cheap. So happy hunting and I hope that I have helped you decide what tennis racquet you should choose.
