The only problem is that they are hollow and therefor without spending a lot of care and time and money on your stick it will soon brake as happened to mine. I have for both of my last two sticks had wooden they cost about £50 and it has been the best stick i have ever used even though it was not the most expensive. However when choosing a stick make sure you try it before you bye it. I say this because people like differt sticks. Some like to have heavy he...more

Premium Review Hockey Equipment: 'Stick' to wood (409 words)
by - written on 29/01/02 (Useful, 823 readings)
Rating:

I have been playing hockey for 5 or so years and have played club, school, county and South East area levels. My first stick was a Mercian stick that cost £10. Since then I have had a number of diffent sticks made from different materials and costing diffent prices. After having a few Wooden sticks that wore away I decided to try an aluminium stick. The theory is good, an aluminium shaft and a replacable wooden head. The stick cost £100 and the replacement heads cost £30. I thought this would last me a long while but I managed to brake it in less than one season. So I decided to try a cheaper stick I got a composite stick which was nice and ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Wasp hockey sticks (220 words)
by - written on 22/04/01 (Useful, 472 readings)
Rating:

Wasp are a small company which sponsor the welsh team. They don't make many sticks a year and so the ones they do make are all hand finished and carefully made. You can get them made to any length from 36.5" to 40 or 41" and in a good range of weights. The sticks vary in quality but all of the Z range are really good balancing power and a relatively large 'sweet spot' with nice control and a good touch. The major disadvantage with these sticks is that they are quite wide and so harder to flick with than a thinner stick but in general good sticks. Again because Wasp are a small company they are good if a stick breaks before you'd expect ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Hockey Equipment: Diya Hockey Sticks...? (270 words)
by - written on 13/03/01 (Useful, 795 readings)
Rating:

I have been using Dita hockey sticks for a long time now, i think 3 seasons in total. The stick i have right now is a dita mega master J. This stick is very thin, it is extreamly good for brilliant close control on the ball. Although it is very thin it doesn't effect your hit, if you strike the ball cleanly it will go as well as any other stick. I personaly have an extra grip on my stick i find this helps a lot with cutting down on vibrations during a game. This stick has a very thin head so it is also very good for flicking you will find that most of the sticks that Dita make are very thin and are brilliant for close control. If you wanted a ...  Read the complete review
