Advantages: Great game. Fast moving, team and very competitive.

Disadvantages: As 'non-contact' sports go, you may get injured more than you might like.

Having taken Hockey up two years ago, I can truely recommend it as the best game I have ever played and I tend to be a very athletic person. You only need to learn a few basic skills to start with and then you can just learn from others as you play. Later, tactics and complex moves can be added in and when these moves result in a goal then the feeling is undescribable.
It is also a very accescible game as it is cheap compared to many other games. Sticks start from around just £15-20 and I recommend that you get a relatively cheap one as they do get broken. Both sexes can compete equally and it is one of the best team games around.
On the downside, although it is a non-contact game, injuries can be frequent usually due to either being hit by an opponent or the ball or falling on the Astro-turf which can give a nasty graze that stings badly for awhile.
Despite these, I still rate Hockey as the best game that I have ever played. If you want to try it just find out about your local club. So long folks and have a great time playing.
