We got our daughter a Kettler Maxi trike (Argos, £40 I think) for her 2nd birthday. It appears to be quite sturdy, takes a while to screw all the parts together, but is supposed to last from age 2 to age 5, and I can see that it would. It has pedals, large wheels, and a removeable parent handle, and 3 seat positions. It also has a brake, however this seems very ineffective as it won't stay on. I was quite shocked the other day to find that after just 6 months of use, one of the 2 screws holding the seat onto the frame has fallen out and been lost.
