Advantages: Cheap sport, works your arms
Disadvantages: needs to be windy (suprise, suprise)
The make and model of the sport kite I have is an Air-sport 150 GX, it is a delta wing with a 5 foot wing span, glass fibre spars, carbon stand-offs and fully adjustable bridle and it retails for around £25. This is no ordinary kite flying believe me, when I bought the kite it was just for fun on holiday but I was soon to learn that it requires a little more skill than I thought! Even though my kite is not exactly the best out there but it will still reach around 30 to 40 miles per hour in a strong'ish wind, say 25mph. The speed comes from accelerating the kite across the wind from left to right of visa versa. It is quite a strain on your arms and it gives them a real work out, in fact if the grass is damp you can have a free tow! More exiting than doing the weights and you get the same results! The kites are super agile and require fast reflexes and good concentration as when its flying at full speed it could be very dangerous if someone got hit by it. I wouldn’t recommend a kite this big for anyone under about 15 years old, I would buy a smaller one that will fly in lighter winds and fly not quite as fast. I would recommend a big flat field without too many people around. Try it, its not expensive and if you don’t like it pass the kite on but I would imagine anyone that has a go will be hoping for windy days. Come with braided polyester lines and carry bag
